More than 80,000 people die in the United States because of alcohol, as per the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAA). Wondering, why I started this blog with such a tragic stat? Because I want you all to know the ultimate destiny of yours if you are consuming too much alcohol. Well, alcohol is a slow poison and today, writing about the powers of amethyst, I remember this true story of my business associate which she told me while flying to Los Angeles.
Jennifer had her first drink when she was 10 years old. This day was a big celebration at home and her stepdad handed her the entire glass of cold beer with lime. Initially, it felt strong and she wooed a little but gradually alcohol became her best friend. Soon she started smuggling airline-sized bottles of booze to school and hide them in the locker so that she could sip in quickly in between the lectures. Her entire circle of friends changed and by the time of high school, drinking became as normal for her as ordering pizza.
Jennifer had always been an intelligent student and owing to this she could manage to beg scholarship to college. But the habit of drinking took that away from her. She stepped away from her family, seeped into depression and was thrown out of college. All dejected and disheartened, she didn’t know what next? Drinking the entire day was her only resort until the day when she realized that she is dooming. After switching jobs, apartments, boyfriends and types of alcohol, she finally turned to God. She started reading the bible every day and joined meditation classes where the teacher introduced her to Amethyst.
Besides the Bible and medication, she mediated with amethysts for months and started feeling the difference in herself. That craving for alcohol got diminished, the determination to leave it got stronger, her medications were reduced later, people started flowing back into her life and she started loving her sober self. Seeing the happiness and hopes coming back to shore, she decided to indulge more in meditating. She read about various crystals and started experimenting with it. She has a combination of few which loves meditating with but says that amethyst is her savior. She still meditates with amethyst and now is a renowned dealer of crystals in Los Angeles.
“Wow, how crystal energy can change the life?” The other healing powers of amethyst include:
- Brings clarity in decision making.
- Reduces stress, fear, anxiety, grief.
- Enhances psychic abilities and intuition.
- Calms the mind
- Blocks geopathic stress
- Ease down headaches
- Protects from negative energies
- Brightens up the energy of the house
- Bring in sound sleep
- Opens your heart
- Enhances spiritual awareness
As per me, Amethyst is a must-have stone for crystal lovers. I really find its shades captivating which range from purple, lilac to mauve. Amethyst has been a truly prized and perfect stone from centuries. By the way, Do you know the story behind the beautiful color of this stone? As per the Greek mythology, one fine day, Greek God, Dionysus became intoxicated with red wine and took out the anger on a young virgin damsel, Amethyst. In the fear of wrath, Amethyst cried out to Goddess Diana for help and she immediately turned her into a white shimmering stone (quartz). Later when Dionysus realized that what had happened, he felt remorse. His tears dropped down in the goblet of red wine. The goblet overturned and wine spilled over the white rock, saturating it until it became purple quartz or Amethyst.
Ironical! Saturated itself from wine, releases people from alcoholism. But its true.
The word Amethyst comes from Greek, meaning “without drunkness” and is believed to protect one from the poison. Traditionally, people used to wear it to stay saved from drinking habits and install a sober mind. If you are also addicted to alcohol and want to leave it once and for all, try meditating with the stone Amethyst.
