“I would have never realized the importance of sight until or unless the eye issue struck me,” told Sally Mathew, a crystal or gemstone enthusiast like me whom I met during my flight to Turkey. At the age of seven, Sally was diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye disease called Stargardt’s disease. In this disease, the part of the retina called macula starts getting damaging resulting into loss of vision. Her eyesight went from being perfectly normal to near about 20%.
