Loving yourself can be one of the most challenging yet most important things you’ll ever do.
What is the meaning of the phrase love yourself? And how do you actually love yourself?
Self-love is not only a state of feeling good. It is a state of recognition for oneself that grows from activities that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. It is not just a concept in our heads. It is about releasing negative thoughts and criticism towards yourself and embracing more loving thoughts. It should become a priority in our lives daily!
Self-love is dynamic. It develops through actions that mature us when we began to accept our weaknesses and embrace our strengths and have compassion for others and ourselves. Self-love is not a destination; it’s a practice. Self-love is the basis on which we build a happy and healthier life. Without self-love, we have nowhere to put the love or abundance that comes to us.
Even though we all know the importance of self-love, it can be hard to practice it daily. Here are a few of the steps through which you can practice them every day, and soon you’ll begin to see some significant shifts in your daily routine.
Become Mindful of who you are
It is quite impossible to love yourself when you don’t even know who you are. Invest the time in yourself in discovering what you love, believe, value, and what brings you joy. Treat yourself with compassion just like you would treat your best friend.
Learn to Say No
Boundaries are essential because they let others know that you deserve respect and alone time. Learn to say no to work, love, or activities that drain you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
Don’t try to be so hard on yourself. If your behavior hurts you or another person, think about how you can make amends to the person you hurt. Accept your flawlessness. Practice being kind to yourself. Remember that there are no failures, only lessons learned.
Celebrate the Small Victories
Celebrate when something good happens to you. You don’t have to throw a ball or buy something extravagant. You can call your loved ones or hang around with your friends, go for a movie date, or cheat on your diet plan.
Pamper yourself, do the things that make you feel happy and relaxed.
Learn to nurture yourself. Take care of your basic needs and be good to yourself. Engage yourself in healthy activities, mindful eating, proper sleep, regular exercise, and healthy social interactions. Take out some time to explore your passion and dreams and go for them.
Become self-aware of your patterns of thought and behavior. It will help you find more peace and balance in Life. Meditation can bring stability to your Life, and it has endless benefits. Aim for 10-15 minutes every morning when you wake up (or whenever you have time!). It will be worth it.
Gratitude is one of the easiest and simplest ways to focus on the good in yourself and your Life. Try to identify at least 3 things that you’re grateful for when you wake up every morning. Don’t just say it; feel that too.
Take out some time in learning to love yourself. Your relationship with yourself is the most important, and You are the one person you’ll always be with; you are that person who knows the best for you. You carry magic within yourself; admire yourself just like you admire any celebrity. Your Life has a purpose and a meaning. Reclaim the real meaning of self-care and self-love, and watch your life blossom.
Happiness is the first mantra of self-love!
You were born to be happy!
