Om Namah Shivaya is the mantra dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered to be one of the most powerful mantras in Hinduism.
It means “I bow to Lord Shiva.” the supreme reality, the heavenly consciousness that dwells inside every one of us.
This mantra means-
Om – It is the vibration of the Universe, the sound of the creation.
Namah – It means to bow or show adoration.
Shivaya – It means the inner Self.
Chanting this mantra infuses positive energy and removes negative energy. It helps you gain control over your senses and bring you very close to the divine inner nature within all of us. It is also referred to as the five-syllable mantra or Panchakshara mantra (Na-Ma-Shi-Va-Ya) because it has five syllables that represent the five elements.
Na is earth
Ma is water.
Shi is fire.
Va is wind or air.
Ya is space or sky.
